Today is yet another big day for us here at 180solutions, as the program version we’re rolling out today marks another significant step in further protecting our users. To be completely rolled out by the end of March, the changes included in this version upgrade are aligned with emerging industry best practices and include:

• Improved Ad Labeling – Ads generated from the upgraded version of our search assistant software will include a title bar at the bottom of each ad, disclosing the name of the software installed, the company responsible for the software and a link to get more information on how the software was installed, including where it might have originated from (examples included here: Zango, Seekmo).

• Updated Secondary Notification Language – Upon installation of our software, each customer will receive a notification message reaffirming the installation within 72 hours. This message will include a representative example of an ad, more information on the software’s functions and simple uninstall instructions (Zango, Seekmo)

• Simplified Disclosure – To add even more clarity into what our software does, we’ve updated the language in the Plain Language Disclosure to clarify the types of ads that will be shown to the user (Zango, Seekmo)

It’s important to us that consumers understand our products and that they provide full, informed consent before installing our software. Is this the last of our efforts in improving the user experience? Absolutely not. As we continue to connect users, advertisers, content providers, and publishers in the thriving content economy, we will continue to enhance our technology and policing efforts to ensure the protection of our users and our partners.
